Residence for remote workers employed by or invoicing companies outside Spain.
Who it's for
You work for clients or employers abroad; Spain is where you want to live. The digital nomad visa — created by the 2022 Startup Law within the Law 14/2013 framework — authorises remote workers and freelancers to reside in Spain while working for companies outside it, with only a limited share of Spanish-source work allowed. It runs through the UGE fast-track, and spouses and children can apply jointly.
Key requirements
Remote employment or freelance contracts with companies outside Spain, with a track record behind the relationship.
A university degree or around three years of relevant professional experience.
Income of around twice the Spanish minimum wage, with additional amounts per family member.
Social security coverage properly arranged for your situation.
Requirements are summarised at a general level. Your lawyer confirms the exact list for your situation before anything is filed.
